About Us
GippsAero has been shaping the future of utility aviation from our base in regional Victoria for over three decades. Built on a foundation of Australian engineering excellence, GippsAero designs and manufactures aircraft that are practical, reliable, and ready to meet the challenges of real-world operations.

Our Story
GippsAero’s story is built on Australian innovation and grit. Founded as Gippsland Aeronautics in the 1970s by George Morgan and Peter Furlong, the company began by providing engineering services and aircraft maintenance to local operators.
Morgan and Furlong brought a practical understanding of aviation, shaped by hands-on experience and a clear vision for building aircraft that could withstand Australia’s toughest conditions.
Their first major success came with the GA200 Fatman, a robust agricultural aircraft designed to thrive in demanding environments. Building on this foundation, they developed the GA8 Airvan, a versatile utility aircraft engineered for remote operations, low operating costs, and straightforward maintenance.
Gippsland Aeronautics quickly earned a reputation for designing aircraft that could go where others could not, serving missions across Australia and around the world.
Today, GippsAero remains firmly in Australian hands. From our home in regional Victoria, we continue to uphold the legacy of practical design, resilience, and reliability that has defined us from the beginning. Our aircraft are built for operators who demand more, and we remain committed to delivering aircraft that meet the challenge.
